Planmeca FIT System
With an ordinary dental crown, the process begins with the tooth being reduced; a gloppy mess is applied to take an impression; a temporary crown is placed; and the patient must wait about two weeks for their crown to be delivered.
However, with the Planmeca FIT System, the patient can have their permanent crown made and cemented into place the same day.
The crown process begins with the need to have the tooth reduced in size to accommodate the crown … all similarities with standard crowns and same day treatment seems to stop there. With the Planmeca FIT System, a digital rendering of the tooth is taken (no messy impressions needed), and in a matter of minutes a porcelain crown can be milled.
And the Planmeca FIT System doesn’t stop with just regular crowns … inlays, onlays, veneers, bridges and abutment teeth … this treatment process offers an array of products to satisfy just about any need.
Advantages of Same Day Crowns
The fewer visits needed to complete dental treatment, the better. With a regular crown, the patient must wait weeks before treatment is completed. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth until the permanent crown can be provided. And since a temporary crown is just that, if it should come off, an additional visit is needed.
With CAD/CAM technology, the tooth where the crown is needed is scanned using the latest offering in digital imaging. Using this image, a small block of porcelain is precisely milled to make your crown.
Digital imaging takes a lot of the guessing out of taking a perfect impression. You no longer need to rely on a lab technician to use the impression taken to fabricate a crown. This step is eliminated with the Planmeca FIT System.
You will enjoy all the advantages of having your tooth restored without the hassle of repeated dental office visits. And the finished product will look fantastic. You will enjoy a great fit and total functionality once your new crown has been cemented into place.
