How To Make Family Dental Care Easier

  • May 2, 2016

You love your family more than anything, and you want them to have the best things that you can.

We hope that includes dental care. It’s also why we take pride in the family and general dental care that we provide at Forever Young Dentistry.

Whether you are visiting the dentist for a routine cleaning, a cosmetic dental procedure, or a restorative treatment, you want to know that you are in good hands.

Our staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality service for patients in Sterling Heights, MI, as well as Troy and anywhere in between. Today, we want to share with you a few reasons we want to be your family’s dentist for years to come.

A Wide Range Of Services

We live in a complicated world, more complicated than it’s ever been. Technology has allowed us to do things faster and find information more quickly than ever.

Yet, somehow, there never seems to be enough time to do all the things we want — or need – to do.

It would be nice to make things simpler when you can. Forever Young Dentistry wants to help by making dental care easier for every member of your family. Instead of going to two or three different places, we can cover a broad range of your dental needs under one roof.

This starts with routine cleanings and examinations.

When you, your spouse, or one of your children come in for a regular visit, we will do several things. During the cleaning, a dentist or hygienist will remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and gums.

We will examine your mouth as well. We always watch for signs of tooth decay and gum disease, and we conduct oral cancer screenings using the VELscope. We do these things because we know that early detection leads to better treatments and higher success rates.

If we find a cavity (tooth decay), we offer composite fillings for our patients. These tooth-colored fillings are placed in the affected tooth after the decay has been removed. Unlike amalgam fillings (which are made with mercury and other metals), our composite fillings blend in naturally so it’s less apparent which tooth had the cavity.

To treat gum disease, we offer scaling and root planing. This is considered a deep cleaning procedure that removes bacteria, plaque, and tartar from the roots of your teeth.

Preventive Care

Benjamin Franklin said a lot of wise things. One of them was, “A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

This certainly applies to visiting our office a few times each year for routine cleanings, but it also applies to some of our other services, like dental sealants and custom-fitted athletic mouthguards.

Dental sealants are a coating that can be applied to your teeth. Many parents get sealants for their children because sealants create a protective barrier over the teeth that are the most susceptible to tooth decay.

The sealants are an obstacle that bacteria must get through before they can cause damage to you son or daughter’s teeth. This is a relatively inexpensive option that could save your children’s teeth (and your wallet) from treating multiple cavities.

Many people play sports, but not everyone takes the steps that they should to protect their teeth during these activities. Most people realize that mouthguards are important for contact sports, like football or wrestling, but they are just as important for high-impact sports.

This includes things like basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Any sport that involves jarring impact on your joints (jumping, frequent speed changes, frequent direction changes) can damage your teeth.

Wearing a mouthguard can reduce the effects of traumatic impact to your teeth and jaw. Your best option is wearing a custom-fitted mouthguard, whether you are a youth athlete, a budding high school star, or an adult who plays recreationally with your friends.

You can get one of these mouthguards at our office.

Other Services

While we hope you’ll never need this, we are available to provide emergency dental care as well.

We also offer restorative services, Invisalign to straighten teeth, and cosmetic dentistry if you would like to change something about your smile.
