Dr. Young on education and continuing education

I attended Michigan State University for undergraduate studies, and then University of Michigan Dental School. I graduated in 1994 and have been practicing general dentistry since then.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to my mentor back in 2001, and his name is Dr. John Kois. He's a phenomenal man, a phenomenal teacher. He changed my life, he changed basically everything I learned about dentistry. I attended all of his classes in Seattle and I still attend an annual symposium once a year. That's where I get most of my continuing education. I've also done a mini-residency in implants and lots of other leadership continuing education over the years. But, I think that it's very important to keep learning and always trying to be better than what we are. The annual symposium in Seattle, for me, not only do I learn about dentistry, but I learn about people and that component. I've had great education. I've had great teachers and great mentors.

Dr. Young lives in Shelby Township with his wife Cheryl, his three children, and his three step-children. When he isn’t working, he enjoys participating in long distance endurance events such as triathlons and marathons to raise money for his favorite charity, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He enjoys playing the drums, sports, and landscape photography. He adores spending time with his children most of all, and especially appreciates watching them participate in sports.

Dr. Young is a big Michigan State University fan and loves to watch Spartan football and basketball. He also loves baseball and hockey and is a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings.
