Bob Needs A Dental Crown … Fast

Bob Needs A Dental Crown … Fast

Today was just another normal day for Bob.

He stopped at the gas station to pick up his morning cup of coffee. He even decided to get a breakfast sandwich while he was there.

At work, he met with a new client, and everything went well. He’s hoping they will have a contract signed by the end of the week.

At lunch, he tried that new pizza place that just opened near his office. They have that deep dish pizza that Bob hasn’t eaten in years.

And this evening, he snuck a couple fresh-baked cookies from the tray where they were cooling. Well, his wife saw him and gave him a mock scolding.

It’s hard to believe that just a few days ago, those same things may not have gone as well. Bob is so glad he made the short drive from Rochester to Forever Young Dentistry in Sterling Heights, MI.

If he hadn’t, he still might be waiting to get a dental crown.

Why Bob Needed A Dental Crown

Bob knew that he had a cavity, but he just didn’t want to admit it. His wife nagged him about going to the dentist, but he wouldn’t do it. (Bob can be kind of stubborn sometimes.)

He changed his mind when his boss needed to make a trip out of town, so Bob would have to meet with what the company hoped would be a new client.

When Bob realized that he would be representing his company, he started to worry about his tooth. Would this be a distraction to the client? Would it convince the client to go somewhere else instead?

Bob didn’t want to take that chance, so when he got home that night he told his wife that he would be going to the dentist soon.

Bob had a cavity once before in his early 20s, and he had gotten filling for that one. But this cavity looks bigger than he remembered that other one becoming.

Learning About Dental Crowns

Bob knew that he needed a quick solution, and he worried that a filling might not cut it. He started doing some research, and he realized there was a good chance that he might need a dental crown instead.

He also was a little discouraged by what he found. He was under the impression from talking to his co-workers that it could take weeks to get a dental crown.

That meant he might not have it in time for his meeting with the new client.

Fortunately, his wife had been doing some research on her own, too. She had been talking with her friends and coworkers about Bob’s situation. She had learned about Forever Young Dentistry.

She learned that Bob could get a dental crown in a single visit to their office. They use the Planmeca Fit System to create same-day crowns.

So, Bob can get his dental crown in plenty of time for his big meeting!

What Is the Planmeca Fit System?

The Planmeca Fit System is an excellent example of putting technology to use for the benefit of our patients.

As Bob learned, it really can take weeks to get a dental crown at many dentist offices. Somewhere else, the dentist will make an impression that will be sent to an outside laboratory, which may not be able to make the crown for weeks. It depends on how many other orders came in before Bob’s.

At another office, Bob would get a temporary crown, which isn’t as strong or as secure as a permanent one. Bob also would have to make a second trip to the dentist when his real dental crown was finished.

That’s not good for Bob, and it’s not good for our patients. We know you would rather do other things than drive back and forth to the dentist office.

If Bob — or you — come to visit us, we can prepare your tooth and make your dental crown with our in-office milling machine while you wait. Before Bob leaves, his permanent crown will be put in place.

He can feel confident that his dental crown looks and functions like a real tooth, and that will help him stay comfortable for his client meeting.

A Practical Solution

The Bob from our story may not be a real patient, but his situation is possible. We have helped many patients get same-day crowns at our dentist office in Sterling Heights, MI, thanks to the Planmeca Fit System.

What Can Dental Implants Do For You?

What Can Dental Implants Do For You?

What are the elements of a perfect smile?

We think most of us would agree on a few things.

✔︎ Your teeth should be clean and white.

✔︎ Your teeth should be straight and parallel to one another.

✔︎ Your teeth should be evenly spaced.

Oh, and one more thing …

✔︎ You should have a complete set of teeth, or you should at least look like you have a complete set of teeth.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 120 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. That includes around 35 million Americans who are missing one or both rows of teeth.

It’s also a good reason why Forever Young Dentistry offers dental implants to replace lost teeth. If you live in or near Sterling Heights, MI, keep reading or visit our dentist office to learn more about this amazing service.

The Many Problems Of Missing Teeth

If you already are missing teeth, you are aware of the drawbacks.

A single missing tooth can leave you feeling self-conscious about your smile. It also may affect how you eat.

More than likely, you will try to avoid biting or chew with that part of your mouth, which can work as a short-term solution. The problem with that is you end up causing more wear and tear to teeth in another part of your mouth. This increases the chances that they will develop problems later.

If you are missing multiple teeth, this compounds the problems mentioned above.

You may feel compelled to hide your teeth as much as possible. You may go so far as to cover your mouth with your hand or a napkin whenever you are speaking to someone else.

Eating becomes even more difficult. If you are missing teeth are all in the front of your mouth, biting into something may become too difficult. This could result in you giving up some of your favorite foods.

And losing an entire row or both row of teeth severely limits your diet. You aren’t going to enjoy a juicy steak or fried chicken if you can’t chew up the meat.

There’s a saying that we don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone. For too many people, this is true when it come to teeth.

Dental Implants Can Solve Your Problems

People have understood that losing teeth is a problem — if only for practical reasons — for thousands of years.

What we would consider ancient cultures came up with some unique ways for dealing with these problems. Anthropologists have found examples of stones and seashells being used to replace missing teeth.

Closer to our own times, people using ivory, animal bones and teeth, and even teeth removed from the deceased to replace lost teeth.

Today, we have ceramic materials to craft replacements that look very much like real teeth.

Yet with all that innovation, we were still missing something. We were still missing a stable way to replace the roots of our teeth.

That was before modern dental implants were invented. Today, we can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or a whole role of teeth by combining implants with dental crowns, dental bridges, and dentures.

The Positive Impact Of Dental Implants

Dental implants can be life-changing for individuals who receive them.

Implants add strength and stability to the replacements for the missing crowns of your teeth. This means you have the closest thing to a complete tooth replacement next to regrowing your tooth (which, unfortunately, is not something that people can do).

Consider a person with traditional dentures. This rest over his or her gums. As long as they stay in place (which we all know they don’t always do), dentures can give you the appearance of a complete smile.

From a practical standpoint, they can restore about one-fourth of your original biting force. That’s better than nothing, but it will affect what you are able to eat.

If we give that same person a set of dental implants to support those dentures, he or she could regain something close to his or her original biting power.

That means that patient will be able to eat all the foods that he or she likes, and that patient can feel confident that his or her replacement teeth will remain in place at all times.
