Sterling Heights Dentist Adds 3-D and Cone Beam Technology

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – Dr. Michael Young, a leading Sterling Heights dentist and dental instructor, has implemented new technology that increases the success rate of dental implant procedures and improves diagnosis for a multitude of dental issues.

Dr. Young, who operates Forever Young Dentistry, recently added both 3-D imaging and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) at his growing Sterling Heights dental practice. CBCT scanners rotate around the patient’s head, providing hundreds of images of the oral cavity to create 3-D images of the teeth, jaw and joints.

“This technology allows us to be more efficient in diagnosis, eliminates unnecessary referrals, shortens treatment time and increases recovery time,” Dr. Young said. “This technology also allows us to digitally plan implant placement, which improves both safety and the overall success rate of the treatment.”

Forever Young Dentistry is a leader in providing dental implants for patients with missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures. The implants are made from titanium and naturally fuse to the jawbone. Acting as a root, the implants support a restoration like a crown or denture.

CBCT technology is not widely used in dental offices across Michigan or even the country, as it requires a substantial financial investment and additional hours of continuing education. Dr. Young said his practice has spent the last year getting approval with the state of Michigan to add the CBCT technology.

“We are very excited to have this technology for our patients,” Dr. Young said. “We want our patients to be comforted knowing that we use the latest technology to help them achieve a beautiful and functional smile.”

Forever Young Dentistry, 39242 Dequindre Rd., Ste. 106, is a state-of-the art facility with patient amenities and the latest dental technology. The office is trained to provide all aspects of dentistry, including preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, Invisalign and dental implants.

Dr. Young, originally from Saginaw, Michigan, graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1994 and began in private practice. Dr. Young has taken extensive post-graduate classes and trained at the prestigious Kois Center, where he now serves as a mentor. He also is a Fellow at the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. In his effort to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry, Dr. Young received the Detroit District Dental Society Young Dentist Award.

Since building a new Forever Young Dentistry location in 2006, Dr. Young has added a wide range of services and technology to improve overall quality and the patient experience. He uses CEREC same-day crowns to design and place dental crowns in one visit. Typical dental offices require patients to visit two or three times for a basic crown procedure, but CEREC CAD/CAM technology lets Dr. Young take impressions, design and place a crown in about 90 minutes.

Dr. Young also offers Invisalign, a revolutionary tool that has been used to treat orthodontic issues for the last 15 years. Instead of clunky metal brackets or wires, Invisalign uses clear aligners to straighten teeth. The treatment has been well-received by teens and adults because it is virtually invisible and can be easily removed for eating and cleaning.
