You Really Can Improve Your Smile

  • June 23, 2016

People want things to look nice. It’s just how we are wired.

We paint our houses in colors that we like. We hang paintings on our walls to improve their appearance.

And we developed cosmetic dentistry so our teeth can look their absolute best. We offer a number of cosmetic services at Forever Young Dentistry, and they can be used to fix a number of problems.

If you are tired of looking at the same flawed smile in the mirror every day, it’s time for you to do something about it. We can help if you schedule a consultation at our dentist office in Sterling Heights, MI.

Whether you live here, Rochester Hills, or anywhere else near our practice, we are ready to listen and advise on the best ways to improve your smile.

What Would You Like To Change?

Before we can do anything, we need to know what you want to change about your smile.

Take a look in the mirror and pay attention to what you find distracting. Then, pay attention to those teeth and think about what you would need to do to make your smile look better.

Now, look over our list of common problems to learn how we might be able to fix it:

➤ Whiten Your Teeth

It’s a common concern, especially as people get older. All those morning coffees and all those soft drinks add up over the years. Every plate of spaghetti you eat and every hamburger you enjoy leaves behind a little trace, too. You can make the problem worse by smoking or chewing tobacco.

Then again, your discoloration may be the result of an illness or the side effect of medication.

Professional teeth whitening can be used to remain decades of stains in a short amount of time. Another option is porcelain veneers. These are a kind of shell that is bonded to the front of your teeth. They can change the color of your teeth no matter the reason for your discoloration.

➤ Fix Chipped Teeth

Chipped, broken, and worn down teeth all have similar solutions. The right one for you may depend on the severity of your problem and how many teeth are affected.

Dental bonding is a great way to fix a single tooth with a small chip or a tooth that has become worn down.

A dental crown may be a better option for a deep break. (This is something we can do in a single visit to our office.)

And veneers may be an option, especially if you have more than one chipped or worn down tooth.

➤ Straighten Your Teeth

The solution for this depends very much on what is important to you. How much time are you willing to invest in your treatment? Are you primarily interested in a straight smile or do you want teeth that are actually straight?

For patients who really want straight teeth, Invisalign is a discreet orthodontic treatment. It can be used to correct a number of alignment problems, and the average treatment takes about a year.

If your primary concern is the aesthetic benefit of looking like you have a straight smile, then veneers can help with this as well. Instead of straightening your teeth we can bond veneers to them so they look like the smiles you are used to seeing in Hollywood movies.

How About A Smile Makeover?

We’ve mentioned some of the services that we offer and tried to give a brief explanation of how they could help you.

Some patients may be interested in more than one of them. This is what we call a smile makeover. If you are interested in this, we can create a wax mock-up to give you an idea what your new smile will look like before we start.

What If You Have Sensitive Teeth?

Some patients are hesitant to try some of the procedures mentioned above due to tooth sensitivity issues. An alternative to consider is Snap-On Smile.

This is a resin that has been custom formed to fit over your teeth. You leave it or remove it as you see fit.

This may even be a step in your makeover. A Snap-On Smile can give you a sense of how a new smile could improve your confidence. Wearing it for a little while may help you decide if you want to commit to a more permanent cosmetic procedure.
