Your Family Deserves Elite Dentistry

  • March 13, 2016

Your family means everything to you. There is nothing you wouldn’t do to keep your children healthy, and that includes finding a dentist who can meet their needs as they grow.

At Forever Young Dentistry, we have built our practice on a foundation of elite general dental services. If you are looking for a family dentist, we want to show you why it’s worth making the drive from Rochester Hills, Troy, or anywhere in between to our office in Sterling Heights, MI.

We believe you and your family deserve the best care that modern dentistry can offer.

Your Child’s First Visit

We don’t specialize in pediatric dentistry, but we do welcome children to make their first dental visit around their third birthday.

Your son or daughter’s first trip to the dentist is a milestone, and we want your child to feel special whenever he or she is in our office.

We know this first visit is important for a number of reasons. Your child will be coming to a new place and meeting new people. We want your son or daughter to know that our dental team is here to help.

We also want to start building a relationship with your child. Our goal is to perform a cleaning and exam, but in some ways, that is secondary to establishing rapport.

As part of your visit, you and your child can take a tour of our office. We may even give your little darling for a ride in the dentist’s chair as a way to make this visit fun.

We welcome you to stay with your child during his or her cleanings and dental exams. You can be a comforting presence during what can seem like a strange process until your child gets used to us and our office.

And if you have any questions about preventive care, feel free to ask at any time. Our staff is happy to help educate our patients, especially parents.

Dental Sealants

As your children get older and more independent, they won’t always make the best decisions about food. Many kids will pick sweets over healthier snacks, and that increases their risk for cavities.

One way we can help reduce that risk is with dental sealants.

The crowns of your teeth are covered with enamel. This is the hardest substance on the human body. Nevertheless, bacteria can eat through your children’s enamel to cause cavities and tooth decay.

A dental sealant can provide an extra layer of protection to your most vulnerable teeth. These are the molars in the back of your mouth. Because you use your molars to chew and grind food, their surfaces are exposed to the sugars in your foods for longer than your other teeth.

Sealants can be applied to the chewing surface so the bacteria have a harder time eating into your child’s enamel.

Some parents think that it doesn’t matter if their children’s baby teeth get cavities since they fall out anyway. Unfortunately, this can lead your child to form some bad habits that could continue when his or her permanent teeth come in.

You also should remember that baby teeth serve as guides for your child’s permanent teeth. If his or her baby teeth fall out too early, that can cause problems when his or her permanent teeth start to erupt.

Orthodontic Care

After your child’s permanent teeth come in, you may need to consider orthodontic treatment.

Some people believe that straightening their children’s teeth is just about making their smile look nicer. This isn’t the only reason to fix alignment problems, however.

Straight teeth are generally healthier than crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth. This is because straight teeth are easier to brush and floss from every angle. This means that your child’s daily dental hygiene routines will be more effective at removing the bacteria that cause gum disease and tooth decay.

At our office, we offer Invisalign clear, plastic aligners. This is a comfortable and convenient way to provide your son or daughter with orthodontic care. Talk to us about Invisalign before you decide what treatment to use.

Family Friendly Dental Care

We want you and your children to get the dental care that you need to keep your mouths as healthy as they can be. But we also believe we can do this is a fun and relaxing environment.
